New Delhi: The ministry of railways has placed on maintain the implementation of ceiling on evening responsibility allowance for railway workers, after resistance from railway unions.

As per the directions of Division of Personnel and Coaching (DoPT) issued in July 2020, all officers who’ve the essential pay of above Rs 43,600 are to not be paid the evening responsibility allowance(NDA). The railway ministry in September accordingly issued an order to this impact.

The most important railway union within the nation, All India Railwaymen’s Federation in October wrote to the railway ministry for speedy withdrawal of the order, citing resentment and doable unrest thereof, amongst railway workers.

The Federation had demanded that the allowance be paid to officers no matter cadres, departments, and most significantly, their pay grades.

“Federations have represented towards the choice of ceiling-limit if pay and demanded for its evaluation,” a current railway board letter asserting reconsideration of the federal government’s choice, stated.

“Whereas contemplating (the) Federation’s demand, Board have determined to refer the matter to DoP&T for clarification and, within the interim, restoration of NDA from Railway workers who’ve change into ineligible for a similar after (the) challenge of Board’s letter dated 29.09.2020 be deferred till additional orders,” it stated.
