The federal government has initiated a course of to deliver helmets below necessary BIS regime as a part of efforts to cut back deadly accidents involving two-wheelers, the Street Transport and Highways Ministry mentioned on Saturday.

“Ministry of Street Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has issued a draft notification for bringing Protecting Helmets for 2 wheelers rider below obligatory certification as per Bureau of Indian Requirements Act, 2016,” the MoRTH mentioned in an announcement.
It will allow to have solely BIS-certified helmets for 2 wheelers to be manufactured and bought in India, it mentioned.
