Congress will get 12 seats, NPP 11 in 29-member GHADC



The Opposition Congress has gained 12 seats whereas the ruling Nationwide Individuals’s Get together (NPP) gained 11 seats within the 29-member Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC), an official stated on Thursday. The election to the GHADC was held on April 12. The counting of votes was held on Thursday, the official of the District Council Affairs Division stated.

The BJP which is the junior alliance companion of NPP within the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance authorities has gained two seats, the GNC one and Independents gained three seats within the GHADC, the official stated.

BJP’s Bernard Marak gained the distinguished Tura constituency which is underneath the South Tura Meeting phase represented by Chief Minister Conrad Ok Sangma.

  • Marak is a former member of the Achik Nationwide Volunteer Council, armed militant group which signed a tripartite settlement with the state and the Central authorities.
    An NPP chief stated the BJP is prone to assist the NPP within the GHADC and the celebration can be in talks with the Independents.
