Apple scales chip orders as iPhone 12 gross sales surge

San Francisco: Apple is planning to extend orders of chips for the LiDAR scanners owing to excessive demand for its iPhone 12 Professional. Vertical-cavity surface-emitting (VCSEL) chips allow energy scaling for LiDAR and different sensing functions.

DigiTimes reported on Saturday, citing sources, that “Apple is inserting extra orders for VCSEL chips because the lead time for pre-orders for the iPhone 12 Professional has been prolonged to 2-Three weeks in comparison with 2-Three days for the iPhone 12”. The iPhone maker had reportedly ready extra stocks for the extra reasonably priced iPhone 12 on the idea that demand can be greater for the entry-level 6.1-inch mannequin.
